The City Council of Alcorcón invites 18-year-olds to apply for the Young Cultural Voucher, which offers 400 euros for cultural activities. The initiative aims to boost local commerce and artistic training.
Alcorcón has launched a campaign to encourage young people who turn 18 years old during 2026 to apply for the Young Cultural Voucher, a grant from the Ministry of Culture that provides 400 euros to access various cultural activities and products. This edition of the voucher features significant new aspects, expanding its use not only to books, cinema, and theatre but also to the purchase of musical instruments, artistic materials, and participation in cultural training courses and workshops.
The Councillor for Culture and Festivities, Miriam Benítez, has highlighted the cultural richness that Alcorcón offers. “Our city has bookstores, music schools, cultural shops, theatres, and cinemas. The Young Cultural Voucher is a great opportunity to discover everything we have,” Benítez stated.
Through this initiative, the City Council hopes not only to benefit young people but also to boost local cultural commerce. The possibility of using the voucher in nearby establishments will encourage greater economic dynamism in the area.
This year, voucher beneficiaries will have two options to spend the 400 euros. The first option allows the entire grant to be allocated to cultural training or the purchase of instruments and artistic materials. The second option maintains the traditional model that includes live arts and physical cultural products through a prepaid card valid for one year at participating venues in the programme.
Applications are open until 31 October. Interested young people must meet certain requirements: be Spanish or have legal residency in Spain, including asylum seekers or individuals with temporary protection.
Over time, similar initiatives have proven effective; for example, previous programmes have significantly increased attendance at cultural events among young people. This type of aid has become a fundamental pillar for promoting culture among new generations.
To apply for the voucher, it is necessary to do so electronically from the official website of the City Council. With this measure, it is expected not only to enrich local cultural life but also to provide valuable tools for those young people interested in developing their artistic skills.
