The Piano City Madrid festival returns with a diverse programme that includes jazz, flamenco, and contemporary music. It will be held in multiple venues across the city, highlighting its social focus.
Piano City Madrid, one of the most anticipated festivals in the cultural calendar, will take place from June 26 to 28 and will offer a total of 59 free concerts in various locations throughout the capital. This event aims to transform Madrid into a large concert hall, where the piano will be the star not only in its classical facet but also in genres such as jazz, flamenco, tango, and electronic music.
The fifth edition of the festival will feature performances in iconic venues such as Condeduque, CentroCentro, Matadero Madrid, as well as new spaces like the Hotel Emperador and CUPRA City Garage. This variety of venues will allow attendees to enjoy unique musical experiences in different settings.
Throughout the festival, internationally recognised artists such as Italian pianist Rita Marcotulli, Swiss musician Nik Bärtsch, and German pianist Andreas Kern will perform. This year, the initiative Notas Mayores will be launched, bringing concerts to municipal centres for the elderly in neighbourhoods like Moratalaz and Retiro. There will also be scheduled performances at the Hospital Universitario La Paz for patients and healthcare staff, thereby reinforcing the therapeutic role that music can play.
In addition to established performances, the festival will also provide space for new generations through the Plenitude Award for pianists under 30. This initiative aims to highlight young talents within the framework of the festival.
