A Unique Exhibition at the Espacio Fundación Telefónica
The Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Madrid is preparing to host one of the most anticipated exhibitions of the year, dedicated to the iconic Swiss photographer Robert Frank. From 29 May to 1 November 2026, visitors will be able to explore the complete series The Americans, which includes a total of 83 photographs that have marked a milestone in the history of visual art.
The series, created during a trip across the United States in the 1950s, offers a raw and realistic view of the country. Unlike the idealised representations that predominated at the time, Frank delves into social inequalities and everyday tensions, capturing moments that reveal the complexity of the American dream.
Organised by the Fundación Telefónica, this exhibition is backed by prestigious institutions such as the Main Européenne de la Photographie in Paris and the International Center of Photography in New York. These collaborations not only bring key works to the exhibition but also expand the international context of Frank's work.
Through his direct style and innovative narrative, Robert Frank challenged the traditional codes of photojournalism.
