The Community of Madrid has approved the posters for the Autumn Fair, which will take place from October 1 to 12 at Las Ventas with eight events and names like Morante de la Puebla, Antonio Ferrera, or Borja Jiménez.
The Las Ventas Bullring will host the 2026 Autumn Fair from October 1 to 12, a cycle that will bring together the main figures of bullfighting in eight events. The Board of Directors of the Centre for Bullfighting Affairs (CAT), chaired by the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Interior, Carlos Novillo, has greenlit a programme that combines tradition and new talent.
The cycle includes five bullfights, two novice bullfights with picadors, and the final of the 'Path to Las Ventas' competition. Among the confirmed names are Morante de la Puebla, returning after his double performance on October 12 last year, alongside Antonio Ferrera, Diego Urdiales, Román, Uceda Leal, Borja Jiménez, Emilio de Justo, Paco Ureña, and Fortes.
The commitment to new talents is embodied by the novice bullfighter Álvaro Serrano, who will perform solo with six calves upon his return to the Monumental after achieving the Puerta Grande at San Isidro. On October 12, the Day of Hispanicity, the winner of the 2026 Copa Chenel, Héctor Gutiérrez, will fight alongside Morante and Aarón Palacios, who will confirm his alternative.
The announced livestock includes prestigious names such as Victoriano del Río, Alcurrucén, Victorino Martín, Garcigrande, Cuvillo, and Adolfo Martín, which will enter the bullring throughout the cycle.
Parallel Cultural Programme
The regional government has organised parallel activities at Las Ventas to promote the festival. The Antonio Bienvenida hall will host a free monographic exhibition on the life and career of Morante de la Puebla, featuring works such as a large bust sculpted by Martín Lagares.
In the Antoñete hall, a tribute will be paid to the Madrid Bullfighting School with the exhibition '50 Years Training Heroes, 50 Years Shaping Dreams', curated by Covadonga Saiz Bernuy. The exhibition will gather posters, foundation documents, suits of lights, and an audiovisual piece that combines testimonies from students and teachers with clips from the film 'Tú solo'.
The display cases in the lower tier 5 will showcase the children's story 'Herencia Viva: El Origen', by Vanesa Santos and Victoria Mendoza, illustrated by Virginia Megías. In tiers 1 and 2, creations by Daniel Sastre will be on display, featuring a selection of capes.
Tributes to Joselito and Dr. García Padrós
The Centre for Bullfighting Affairs will pay tribute to José Miguel Arroyo 'Joselito' on the 40th anniversary of his alternative. On October 2, a commemorative tile in his name will be unveiled at Las Ventas, and on October 9, another ceramic dedicated to Dr. Máximo García Padrós will be inaugurated in the galleries of the Monumental, in recognition of his contributions to bullfighting medicine.
