A forum to redefine Madrid
On June 16, Madrid will become the epicentre of urban debate with the celebration of URBAFORO MADRID, an event organised by the Grupo Libertad Digital in collaboration with the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid (COAM). This forum will bring together prominent actors from the public and private sectors at the COAM headquarters, located at Hortaleza, 63, to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the Community of Madrid in terms of urban planning and sustainable development.
The inauguration will be led by Ángela Baldellou, managing director of COAM, who will present her vision on "Madrid 2050: civic and professional leadership." This concept aims to establish a strategic framework that guides architects, urban planners, and institutions towards an urban transformation that considers not only the physical growth of the city but also crucial aspects such as sustainability and social cohesion.
Next, Ignacio Pezuela, the district president of Moratalaz and deputy spokesperson for the Permanent Commission of Works of the City Council, will share his experience on "The urban transformation of a model environment at the European level: Moratalaz." This district has become a benchmark for its innovative approach to urban regeneration.
A round table titled "Multiple visions, one territory: the municipalities speak" will give voice to three representative mayors. Moderated by Luis Fernando Quintero, an expert journalist in economics, this discussion will include the perspectives of:
- Paloma Tejero, mayor of Pozuelo de Alarcón, who will address the challenges her consolidated municipality faces amid growing residential demand.
- Asensio Martínez, mayor of Sevilla la Nueva, who will share how his locality is managing its expansion without losing its identity.
- Jesús Montero, urban planning councillor in Alcobendas, who will discuss strategies to attract business investment while developing new housing.
In a second round table titled "The projects that build the future. 21st Century Urbanism," the exploration will focus on how the private sector can contribute to unlocking residential supply. Moderated by Beatriz García, editor-in-chief of Libre Mercado, it will feature key interventions such as:
- Carolina Roca, president of ASPRIMA, who will talk about the needs of the promoting sector.
- Alberto Quemada, CEO of LandCo, providing insights on urban management.
At 12:15, a dialogue will take place between Luis Fernando Quintero and Rafael García González, the regional deputy minister in charge of the Environment and Territorial Planning. This conversation will offer a comprehensive view of the major current and future urban developments in Madrid.
Closing the event will be María Eugenia del Río Villar, general secretary of COAM. Afterwards, there will be an informal networking space where attendees can exchange ideas while enjoying wines and canapés. URBAFORO MADRID promises to be not only an informative forum but also a platform to foster business relationships among urban sector professionals.
