Rebuild 2026: An event that will transform the construction sector
The city of Madrid will become the epicentre of industrialised construction with the celebration of Rebuild 2026, a fair that promises to revolutionise the sector. From this Thursday, more than 30,000 professionals from the field will gather at Ifema to explore over 2,400 modular, sustainable and digital innovations presented by 758 companies. This event is notable not only for its magnitude but also for its estimated economic impact of over 84 million euros.
In its ninth edition, Rebuild has reconfigured its exhibition space into 11 thematic areas, including Interiors & Lighting, Kitchen & Co, and BIM & Tech. This ambitious renewal aims to enhance the visitor experience and boost business opportunities within the sector.
Aside from the exhibition area, the event will host the Advanced Architecture and Construction 4.0 Congress, considered the largest European forum on construction trends. This year, it will feature the participation of 732 international experts, including renowned architects such as Marco Casamonti and Benedetta Tagliabue. The guest country will be Italy, adding an international focus to the meeting.
One of the central themes of the congress will be the affordable housing crisis. Experts like David Lucas, Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Agenda, will discuss how industrial techniques can provide quick and cost-effective solutions to this growing problem. Additionally, initiatives like BIM2HAB will be addressed, aiming to integrate advanced technologies into the construction process to improve housing supply.
Not only will housing be discussed; Rebuild 2026 will also focus its efforts on promoting sustainable practices within the sector. Innovative materials that help reduce environmental impact will be explored, such as bioclimatic wood and technological ceramics. For the first time, forums dedicated to discussing how these resources can be effectively integrated with industrialised systems will be included.
Well-being will also be a central axis, where experts will debate how conscious design can create healthier environments for inhabitants. The Minister of Health, Mónica García, will participate to highlight the connection between housing and comfort.
Digitalisation is another fundamental pillar of the event. Specific spaces will be dedicated to discussing artificial intelligence (AI) and its application within the productive cycle of the construction sector. Leading executives will share their visions on how these technologies are transforming traditional practices.
As the sector evolves towards more industrial and technological methods, Rebuild 2026 does not forget one of its greatest challenges: attracting new talent. With initiatives like Talent Marketplace and educational tours for students within the fairgrounds, it aims to connect current labour market needs with emerging skills among new generations.
