A historic month for company creation in Madrid
The Community of Madrid has recorded a remarkable increase in company creation, reaching an impressive 31% compared to the previous year. In February, 2,615 new companies were established, reaffirming the region as the economic engine of the country. This growth is notable not only for its magnitude but also for its ability to attract investment and foster a dynamic business environment.
During a visit to the new Danone Science Hub, located in Tres Cantos, regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso emphasized the importance of this investment. Danone has allocated 40 million euros over the past two years to develop this technological centre, aimed at innovating healthier food products and improving public health. Ayuso linked this success to a balanced tax policy and an administration that promotes free entrepreneurial initiative.
Aside from the surge in new creations, data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reveals that company dissolutions have decreased by 12.2%, with only 640 closures. This figure is significant as it reflects greater stability and resilience in the existing business fabric. The community has recorded three consecutive months of sustained year-on-year growth, demonstrating a positive trend towards strengthening the business ecosystem.
At the national level, Madrid continues to dominate the business landscape with a total of 5,098 new companies in the first two months of the year. This figure surpasses other autonomous communities such as Catalonia and Andalusia, which recorded 4,864 and 4,056 new companies respectively. Furthermore, the subscribed capital by Madrid-based companies amounts to 230.3 million euros, representing almost 19.3% of the national total.
As Madrid continues to establish itself as an attractive hub for entrepreneurs and investors, these figures are expected to keep growing. The average capitalisation per company currently stands at around 45,176 euros, indicating the financial strength behind these new business projects. With favourable policies and a conducive environment for innovation, Madrid is well-positioned to remain a leader in company creation.
