A key meeting for the business future of Salamanca
The city of Salamanca has taken a significant step towards establishing itself as a hub of innovation by hosting the first Business Summit of the Salamanca Tech network. This event, held at the iconic chapel of the Colegio Arzobispo Fonseca, brought together nearly 100 companies and organisations from the local innovation ecosystem, creating a conducive space for the exchange of ideas and collaboration.
The mayor of Salamanca, Carlos García Carbayo, along with the rector of the University of Salamanca, Juan Manuel Corchado, inaugurated the event, highlighting the importance of uniting efforts between institutions and companies. García Carbayo emphasised that this meeting is just the first of many more to come in the future, inviting all stakeholders committed to innovation to participate actively.
During the summit, business priorities towards 2026 were discussed, as well as opportunities to establish new alliances. The active participation of large companies and biotechnology projects linked to Abioinnova created an environment where synergies can flourish. Corchado stressed that the talent present in Salamanca must be channelled not only in the academic field but also towards business development.
One of the highlights of the event was its agile format, designed to give a voice to all participating companies. Each had the opportunity to briefly present their activities and innovative ideas, facilitating mutual knowledge among attendees and promoting potential cross-sector collaborations.
Juan Manuel Corchado also mentioned the eleven chairs signed with various companies, which opens up an infinite range of possibilities for collaboration. Additionally, he presented programmes such as Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon, designed to foster creativity, protect knowledge generated at the university, and promote internationally the technologies developed.
As this first summit concluded, it became clear that Salamanca is determined to continue strengthening its technological network. With initiatives like this, the aim is not only to boost new economic opportunities but also to reinforce its positioning as a leader in innovation within the national and international landscape.
