The Móstoles City Council has completed an ambitious renewal plan in Estoril I, which includes improvements in accessibility and safety. More than 200 interventions have transformed the neighbourhood.
More than 200 interventions have transformed the Estoril I neighbourhood of Móstoles, thanks to an intensive maintenance and urban renewal plan that has recently concluded. The mayor Manuel Bautista, along with the councillor for Urban Planning, Sergio Soler, and the president of District Board 3 South-East, Ángeles García, visited the area to assess the results. This effort aims not only to beautify the area but also to improve the quality of life for its residents.
The works have included the renewal of pavements, repair of damaged curbs, and removal of architectural barriers. In total, more than 315 square metres of tiles have been installed, and an additional 90 square metres for terraces have been executed. 213 linear metres of curbs have also been placed, and 60 square metres of concrete have been constructed.
Apart from the work on pavements, essential elements such as nine lighting covers, 34 traffic signs, as well as the installation of new bollards and fences have been renewed. These actions are part of the City Council's commitment to creating a safer and more accessible urban environment.
Among the improvements, the creation of two spaces reserved for People with Reduced Mobility (PRM), as well as three new pedestrian crossings that will facilitate safe transit through the neighbourhood, stand out. Accessibility has been a priority in this project, reflecting an inclusive approach towards all citizens.
This is not the first time that Móstoles has undertaken a similar initiative; five years ago, a programme was implemented that covered several neighbourhoods with positive results in terms of community satisfaction. However, this new phase is particularly significant due to its scope and the total number of interventions carried out.
Throughout the process, complementary tasks such as general cleaning and preventive maintenance were also carried out, which included minor repairs to existing bollards and signs. Additionally, a new light point was installed at the intersection of Calle Montecarlo and Camino de Leganés to improve night visibility.
Bautista emphasised during his visit: "With all these actions, we continue to work towards achieving a more cared-for, accessible, safe city that meets the needs of all Móstoles residents." This statement underscores the local government's commitment to community well-being.
