Significant improvements in healthcare
The Community of Madrid has taken a step forward in modernising its healthcare system by implementing two new features in the Virtual Health Card (TSV). These tools are designed to optimise the patient experience and ensure more efficient access to medical services.
One of the main innovations is an automated alert system that notifies patients when their medical test results are available. This service covers both laboratory tests, such as blood and urine tests, as well as imaging diagnostics, including X-rays and ultrasounds. Users will receive a direct message on their mobile phone, informing them about the new document available in their profile within the TSV.
The second improvement focuses on the Patient Accompaniment Service for Outpatients with Disabilities (APAD). This option is intended for those patients who, due to a physical, mental or sensory disability, need support during their medical appointments. From the application, users will be able to easily request this service when scheduling an appointment. The system will allow them to indicate their specific needs, such as the use of a wheelchair or if they require an interpreter.
The healthcare centre team will manage these requests well in advance to ensure that an accompanying person is available on the specified day. Additionally, if the patient has a designated representative on their health card, they will also be able to make the request on their behalf. This service will apply not only to outpatient consultations but also to outpatient surgical interventions and diagnostic tests.
The Minister of Digitalisation, Miguel López-Valverde, highlighted that these initiatives are part of the regional government's commitment to humanising medical assistance and removing barriers for citizens. With over 3.7 million registered users and access to 68 services, the Virtual Health Card continues to evolve into a more accessible and secure platform.
Through these digital improvements, the aim is to reinforce the patient's autonomy in managing their health. Digitalisation not only avoids unnecessary travel but also facilitates the daily work of healthcare professionals by providing them with more effective tools to meet the patient's needs.
