The new southern access to the Rey Juan Carlos University Hospital, inaugurated by Mayor Manuel Bautista, aims to optimise vehicle entry and exit. The project, costing over one million euros, promises to reduce access time to the car park.
The city of Móstoles has taken a significant step in improving access to its main hospital. Mayor Manuel Bautista and the Councillor for Urban Planning, Housing and Heritage, Sergio Soler, have officially inaugurated the new southern access to the Rey Juan Carlos University Hospital. This new entrance is located on Tulipán Street and serves as an alternative to the existing entrance next to the bullring. The initiative aims to facilitate both the entry and exit of residents and hospital users, as well as improve vehicle flow in an area that has historically faced congestion problems. The intervention not only seeks to alleviate traffic but also to address the demands raised by citizens and hospital staff, including ambulance services that require quick and efficient access.
The project was approved by the Local Government Board on April 22, 2025, and has a total budget of 1,168,771.86 euros. The works have been carried out in a single phase over a total area of 5,000 square meters, which includes both the new roadway and the adjacent pedestrian areas. This roadway is approximately 150 meters long and is designed to allow drivers to access the hospital directly without needing to navigate through the Rosales neighbourhood to make turns.
A notable feature of the new access is its ability to significantly reduce waiting times; according to municipal estimates, this route will decrease the time needed to reach the car park from Tulipán Street by approximately four minutes. Additionally, acoustic screens have been installed to mitigate the noise generated by this new road in nearby homes.
This development not only represents an improvement in logistical terms but also facilitates access to the new building designated for Outpatient Consultations, which is currently under construction within the hospital complex. Concurrently with this project, work is also underway to remodel the internal roadways of the hospital to further optimise access.
The importance of the new access lies not only in its immediate functionality but also in its contribution to a more efficient healthcare system in Móstoles. With such urban investments, the aim is to ensure that both patients and professionals have the best possible conditions to access essential medical services.
