Adverse weather conditions in Madrid
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow warning that will affect the entire Community of Madrid, anticipating a forecast of rain and storms for this afternoon. This warning will be active on April 24, from 16:00 to 22:00 hours, and irregular precipitation is expected, with the possibility of occasional storms, especially in the southwest of the region.
The unstable conditions that have already begun to be felt today, Friday, could intensify during the afternoon. Aemet has indicated that the presence of hail and strong gusts of wind cannot be ruled out, which could further complicate the situation. Temperatures are also expected to experience a notable drop, aligning with this atmospheric change.
In light of this scenario, the Madrid City Council Fire Brigade has issued a series of recommendations to citizens. It is advised to avoid wooded areas due to the potential risk from falling branches and to secure outdoor objects such as awnings and windows. Additionally, they urge people to exercise caution when travelling during the most critical moments of the weather phenomenon.
The Madrid Emergency and Security Agency 112 (ASEM112) has activated protocols to coordinate efforts among different agencies in response to possible incidents arising from the adverse weather. This measure aims to ensure a quick and effective response in case of emergencies related to the weather conditions.
Although the yellow warning does not imply a critical level, it is essential for citizens to pay attention to weather reports to stay informed about any changes in the forecast. Aemet recommends following their official channels for updated information on the development of the weather in the region.
