This Tuesday, the Community of Madrid faces a new episode of intense heat, with maximums reaching 41 degrees in several localities. Nights will also be warm, raising concerns among citizens.
The heatwave continues to hit Madrid. This Tuesday, the region is under an intense heatwave that has driven temperatures to alarming levels. In localities such as Aranjuez, Alcalá de Henares and Rivas-Vaciamadrid, maximums are expected to hover around or exceed 41 ºC, while minimums will barely drop below 22 ºC. This situation not only affects the physical well-being of citizens but also poses challenges for public health and urban infrastructure.
The sky will remain mostly clear during the day, contributing to strong sun exposure. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued alerts for various areas of the Henares corridor and the southeast of Madrid. The combination of high temperatures and low relative humidity —ranging between 17 % and 19 %— creates an environment prone to heat strokes and dehydration.
As the day progresses, it is expected that weather conditions will remain unfavourable. In Alcalá de Henares, for example, a maximum thermal sensation similar to the actual temperature is anticipated due to the lack of significant wind; it will blow from the southeast at moderate speeds.
This is not the first time Madrid has faced extreme heatwaves. Historically, similar events have occurred in previous years; however, this year seems particularly severe. Compared to last summer, where maximum temperatures did not exceed 38 ºC, this increase represents a notable change in local weather conditions.
As more municipalities report high readings on their thermometers —such as Alcorcón with maximums close to 40 ºC, or Getafe with similar records— local authorities are urging citizens to take appropriate precautions. It is recommended to avoid outdoor activities during peak sun hours and to stay hydrated to prevent heat-related issues.
Despite the adverse weather, some residents have found creative ways to cope with these high temperatures. From organising evening gatherings in parks to seeking refuge in air-conditioned shopping centres, the community is quickly adapting to this new climatic reality.
Weather forecasts indicate that this heatwave could extend for several more days before giving way to temporary relief. Experts suggest staying alert to future weather updates and following health recommendations to ensure personal safety during these critical days.
