An Unmatched Celebration in the Heart of Madrid
On 14th March, Madrid will become the epicentre of Celtic culture with the celebration of the traditional St. Patrick's Parade. This event, which has grown in popularity over the years, will feature the participation of more than 600 bagpipers from 40 bands and groups, who will fill the streets with vibrant melodies and a festive atmosphere.
The parade will begin at 5:00 PM, starting from the iconic Edificio Metrópolis. Participants will march along the iconic Gran Vía, one of the main thoroughfares of the Spanish capital, until they reach Plaza de España. This route promises not only to be a delight for lovers of Celtic music but will also offer a unique visual experience thanks to the colourful costumes and decorations accompanying the musicians.
The day will culminate in an exciting concert at Plaza del Callao, where the enveloping sound of bagpipes and other traditional instruments will close this celebration with a golden touch. Attendees will be able to enjoy not only the musical talent but also the festive atmosphere that characterises this celebration.
This parade is an integral part of the IV Ireland Week, an initiative organised by Tourism Ireland along with various entities such as the Irish Embassy and the Madrid City Council. From 10th to 17th March, Madrid will host a varied series of cultural activities including film, dance, gastronomy, and Irish literature. This week is designed to celebrate and promote the rich Irish traditions among locals and visitors alike.
Apart from the main parade, there will be entertainers, folk groups, and sports associations contributing to the festive atmosphere. The perfect combination of music, dance, and culture promises to attract both locals and tourists eager to experience an authentic and unforgettable event.
