The City Council of Madrid has launched an exciting initiative that will allow citizens and visitors to enjoy free guided tours of some of the most emblematic spaces in the capital. Starting from Wednesday, March 18, the booking period will open for one of the 10,000 spots available in the Pasea Madrid programme, which will take place between April and June 2026.
This programme will offer more than 350 sessions, organised into five different themes, allowing participants to explore iconic places such as the Landscape of Light, the Buen Retiro park, and the historic frontón Beti Jai. Reservations can be made through the City Council's digital platform, starting at 10:00 AM for those over 65 and at 12:00 PM for the general public.
One of the most anticipated itineraries is dedicated to the Landscape of Light, recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2021. This tour will include visits to the beautiful Buen Retiro park and the emblematic Paseo del Prado, where participants can learn about the rich cultural history surrounding these spaces.
The visits to the Buen Retiro park will take place from April 6 to June 28, while the routes along the Paseo del Prado will be available from April 7 to June 23. Both activities promise to be an educational and visually impactful experience.
In addition to the Landscape of Light, attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the historic frontón Beti Jai, a building declared a Cultural Heritage Asset in 2011, which was recently restored and awarded for its conservation. Visits here will take place on weekdays and during weekends.
No less interesting will be the visit to the monument to Alfonso XII in the Retiro park, where access to a viewpoint with stunning panoramic views will be available. Furthermore, those interested in learning more about recent history can explore the bunker built during the Spanish Civil War in El Capricho.
