A festival that transforms the city
The LuzMadrid, an international festival celebrating light as a form of art, is set to dazzle Madrilenians and visitors in its third edition. This event, taking place from 12 to 14 March 2026, aims not only to beautify the Spanish capital but also to reinforce its position in the European cultural landscape.
Since its inception in 2021, coinciding with the recognition of the Landscape of Light as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, LuzMadrid has evolved into a meeting point for national and international artists. This year, the festival will present 15 innovative works that will use light as the main tool to explore contemporary themes.
Under the slogan “a productive dialogue between art, technology, memory and urban landscape,” LuzMadrid promises to be a space where diverse creative perspectives converge. The event's organisation highlights its commitment to sustainability and accessibility; after receiving the ‘A Greener Future’ certification in its second edition, this year will see the implementation of eco-friendly practices throughout the festival.
Apart from the impressive light installations spread across the city, attendees will be able to participate in activities such as the Light Encounter, scheduled for March 14. This event will include sessions focused on light art and a roundtable with experts in architecture and digital culture discussing the impact of light on our urban environment.
The works will be located in iconic places such as Matadero Madrid, Madrid Río, Frontón Beti Jai, and Plaza de la Villa, allowing visitors to enjoy not only the art but also Madrid's architectural heritage.
LuzMadrid will feature an impressive variety of artists and institutions. Among the most anticipated works are:

- ‘Emerging Lights. Synaxcape’ by UDIT
- ‘Cluster’ by Playmodes
- ‘Firmamento’ by Collectif Scale
Each installation will offer a unique experience that invites reflection on our relationship with light and how it can transform everyday spaces into memorable artistic experiences.
