Vox's rejection of Móstoles joining the Spanish Network of Capitals of Culture provokes strong criticism from the PP. The decision limits cultural opportunities for the city.

Móstoles has lost a significant opportunity to enhance its cultural offerings following the rejection by the party Vox in the municipal Plenary for its incorporation into the Spanish Network of Capitals of Culture. This decision has generated an open confrontation with the Partido Popular, which has described the vote as a demonstration of Vox's historical disinterest in culture in the city. The PP argues that this network, promoted by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), offers multiple benefits, including collaboration with other cities and promotion of local heritage. The vote, which also saw Vox align with the PSOE and Más Madrid, has been considered by the popular party as a purely political act that harms the cultural and social interests of Móstoles. According to PP sources, this refusal is incomprehensible given that Vox previously held the Culture Department and should have supported initiatives that benefit local cultural development. The situation raises questions about political priorities in Móstoles and how these directly affect its citizens. With this rejection, Móstoles distances itself from national cultural projects that could have elevated its profile in the Spanish cultural sphere.
