A unique celebration in the heart of Madrid
The Madrid Book Fair is set to open its doors from 29 May to 14 June at the iconic Paseo de Coches de El Retiro. This year, the fair celebrates its 85th edition, centring around humour and inviting attendees to reflect on laughter as a means to interpret reality.
Among the participating authors are notable names such as Jonathan Coe, Maitena, and the popular comedy duo Pantomima Full. The fair will not only feature literary presentations but also discussions on topics such as political satire and absurd humour. One of the most anticipated events will bring together Pantomima Full with Joaquín Reyes and Eva Soriano under the title ‘This is something someone like you would say’.
Throughout the event, tributes will be paid to iconic personalities such as Kurt Vonnegut, Nicanor Parra, and the famous Argentine musical group Les Luthiers. Additionally, there will be a special event dedicated to the novel A Confederacy of Dunces, regarded as a masterpiece in the realm of contemporary literary satire.
This year, the fair will also take a step forward by incorporating digital formats. Open recordings of popular podcasts like Pena y Pánico will take place, offering an interactive experience that will attract both young and adult audiences. Attendees will be able to enjoy not only signings and presentations but also participate in workshops, book clubs, and children's activities.
Access to the event is straightforward thanks to its strategic location. Visitors can easily reach it using nearby metro stations: Retiro (Line 2) and Ibiza (Line 9). Moreover, several bus lines connect directly to the fairgrounds, ensuring everyone can enjoy without complications.
