The City Council of Fuenlabrada has opened a new call for aid for young people, which can cover up to 70% of electricity and gas bills. With a budget of 200,000 euros, it is expected to benefit numerous families.
The City Council of Fuenlabrada has announced the opening of a new call for financial aid aimed at young people between 18 and 35 years old, focused on covering the expenses derived from energy bills. These grants can reach up to 70% of the total expense, with a maximum limit of 1,200 euros per applicant, depending on family circumstances.
The budget allocated for this initiative amounts to 200,000 euros, reflecting the council's commitment to the economic well-being of young people in a context where energy prices have increased significantly. In the previous call, approximately 1,500 families from Fuenlabrada benefited, receiving more than half a million euros in total.
In addition to support for energy bills, aid has also been increased to improve accessibility in collective buildings. Grants for works such as the installation of ramps or adaptation of entrances now match the amount allocated for new elevators, reaching 20,000 euros. Furthermore, if two or more actions are carried out within the same building, this amount can rise to 25,000 euros. Aid for specific changes, such as replacing bathtubs with shower trays, has also seen a significant increase: it now offers 1,200 euros, compared to the previous 1,000 euros.
It is not just about direct support for young people; the City Council is also committed to energy efficiency in general. A total of 100,000 euros will be allocated to subsidise community solar installations and individual solar panels, offering up to 5,000 euros and 1,200 euros, respectively.
As the year progresses and with the constant increase in energy costs, these measures are seen as essential by many local residents facing economic difficulties due to the rising cost of living.
All applications must be submitted by October 11, either online or in person at the offices located at Calle Norte, 11. The management will be handled by the Municipal Housing Institute (IMVF), which has been key in the successful implementation of similar programs in the past.
Taking advantage of these opportunities can be crucial for many families in Fuenlabrada seeking financial relief amid the current growing economic challenges.
