In this context, the political group Más Madrid Móstoles has presented a motion that will be discussed in the municipal plenary on June 25. The proposal includes the creation of a network of drinking water fountains and shaded areas at strategic points, with the main objective of protecting citizens during the hottest episodes of the year.
The initiative contemplates the installation of fountains in key locations such as Metro stations, public transport stops, and playgrounds. Additionally, it suggests complementing these installations with portable fountains or points equipped with misting systems to provide relief to those walking the streets during the warmer months. According to Jesús Arrabé, spokesperson for the group, "facilitating access to water is crucial during heatwaves."
Health authorities have emphasized the importance of staying hydrated in high temperatures, making this proposal even more relevant. Arrabé also highlighted that many people must travel daily under adverse weather conditions without close access to drinking water or adequate shelters.
Moreover, the motion includes a study to implement artificial shade in areas where it is not feasible to plant trees in the short term. These temporary structures would serve as a solution while long-term projects to increase green spaces and urban tree cover are developed. "Natural shade is ideal, but we need immediate solutions," Arrabé stated.

Más Madrid Móstoles will also address other relevant issues during the plenary session, such as the necessary restoration of the fountain in Los Rosales park and matters related to local driving schools. The combination of these proposals reflects an effort to improve both urban infrastructure and quality of life in Móstoles.
