The City Council of Pinto presents a positive balance after three years of management, with a reduction in unemployment and the implementation of 200 measures focused on improving quality of life. The unemployment rate has reached its lowest level in two decades.
The unemployment rate in Pinto has reached a historic 6.62%, marking the lowest level recorded in the last twenty years. This remarkable decrease is due to the policies implemented by the local Government over the past three years, which have included a total of 200 measures focused on employment, families, and urban transformation. Mayor Salomón Aguado highlighted that these initiatives have placed families at the centre of municipal action. Among the strategies adopted is the creation of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Factory, located in the rehabilitated Casita de Chocolate, which aims to promote entrepreneurship and generate new job opportunities.
Aguado emphasised that “these measures reflect our work to build a Pinto with more opportunities.” In this regard, the local Government has managed to reduce unemployment by 16% since the beginning of the mandate. This positive trend is complemented by a decrease of 5.5% in the Property Tax (IBI), bringing it to its lowest level in ten years.
Regarding affordable housing, 422 homes from the Plan Vive have been delivered, aimed at accessible rental. Additionally, the Municipal Plan for Neighbourhood Rehabilitation has been launched, reflecting a clear commitment from the City Council to facilitate access to housing for its citizens.
Pinto has also implemented various initiatives aimed at young people. For the first time, a High School Arts Programme at IES Vicente Aleixandre is being offered. Furthermore, the Peñas Programme has been revived, creating spaces to promote cultural and recreational activities among young people.
Apart from the focus on new generations, the municipal Government has modernised public services through a new contract for cleaning and waste collection under the slogan ‘Pinto Clean and That’s It!‘. This change includes more staff and new machinery to improve service efficiency.
In terms of public safety, there has been a reduction of over 10% in conventional crime thanks to the gradual increase of the local police force and the installation of advanced video surveillance systems.
Pinto is not only advancing towards economic and social improvement; it is also transforming its urban landscape. Projects such as the new central boulevard on Avenida Juan Pablo II and the renovation of the Francisco Rabal Theatre are integral parts of the plan called Pinto in Green. In the coming months, new infrastructures such as the Tourist Office are expected to open, and a new medical centre is planned to be completed by early next year.
As this legislative term progresses, Pinto continues to be recognised for its commitment to the elderly. The city was awarded by the World Health Organization as an Age-Friendly City. This includes specific programmes to combat unwanted loneliness among this vulnerable demographic group.
As Pinto closes this administrative chapter with significant achievements, it is clear that its future is aimed at maintaining these advances and implementing even more improvements for its citizens. Residents can expect to continue seeing positive changes as they prepare for new projects and initiatives that will further enhance their quality of life.
