Outstanding results in the University Entrance Exam
The Community of Madrid has celebrated a new educational milestone with the results of the University Entrance Exam (PAU), where 95.1% of the students who took it have passed. In total, 34,921 young people have overcome this crucial evaluation, as announced by the Vice-Rector for Official Studies at the University of Alcalá de Henares, Javier Acevedo.
Although the figures are slightly lower than last year, which reached 95.51% and a historic record of 96.56% in 2023, the results remain positive. The most notable branch was Science and Technology, with an impressive 97% pass rate, while Humanities and Social Sciences recorded 91.5%. In the general phase, the percentage stands at 83.8%.
Not only are the results encouraging; there has also been a significant increase in the number of enrolled students. This year, 42,047 students registered, representing a 4.74% increase. Of these, 38,519 participated in the admission phase and the rest in the access phase.
Despite the widespread success, innovative measures were implemented this year to combat academic fraud. Radiofrequency detectors were used in all public university centres to ensure a fair and transparent evaluation. Javier Acevedo highlighted that this initiative received positive feedback from students.
Despite the overall positive figures, one of the most notable aspects was the exceptional performance of certain students. The highest score was achieved by a student from Mirabal International School with an almost perfect 9.99. Other outstanding students achieved scores close to 9.98 and 9.97.
As we move towards future exams and academic assessments, it is important to note that there has also been a remarkable increase in requests for accommodations during the tests; this year nearly 4,891 accommodations were requested, which represents approximately 11.8% of the total enrolled.
