Mayor David Conde highlighted investment opportunities in Valdemoro during an event on European funding. The locality aims to attract tech companies and entrepreneurs.
Valdemoro has officially presented itself as an attractive logistics and business hub for innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as stated by its mayor, David Conde, at a day organised by Madrid Network and the CDTI. This event, held at the Madrid Network headquarters, brought together various companies from the tech sector, experts in European funding, and success stories looking to take advantage of the upcoming call for the Eurostars programme, which is open until 10 September 2026. During his speech, Conde emphasised that Valdemoro has nearly 100,000 inhabitants, over 5,000 companies, and plans to develop millions of square metres for new logistics facilities. These factors make the municipality an ideal destination for companies looking to expand or innovate.
Taking advantage of the business forum, the mayor called on the entrepreneurs present to consider Valdemoro as a viable option for their projects. "We want to be an active part of the Madrid economic map," Conde stated, emphasising the municipality's capacity to foster economic growth and attract investments.
The day served not only as a platform to present Valdemoro to SMEs but also as a space dedicated to networking among companies interested in accessing European funds. The Director of Institutional Relations at Madrid Network, Gema Sanz, highlighted the importance of the Eurostars programme as a fundamental tool to boost innovation within the Spanish business fabric, where SMEs represent 99%.
"It's not just about funding; it's also about creating strong networks among companies," Sanz commented during her speech.
Throughout the event, attendees received detailed information on how to access the Eurostars programme thanks to a presentation by Luis Tejero Povedano, national coordinator of the Eurostars project at the CDTI. This programme is specifically designed to support transnational projects led by SMEs looking to collaborate with international partners.
As Spain maintains a prominent position within the Eurostars programme with around 100 annual proposals, Tejero highlighted that approximately 20 proposals are approved each year. He also introduced another programme called Innowwide, aimed at financing technological feasibility studies in third countries with financial support of up to €60,000.
However, it wasn't all theory; participants also heard practical testimonies on how to navigate this type of funding. The CEO of the tech company Linc, Pranay Krishen, shared his experience on how his company developed hardware and infrastructure thanks to an international collaboration facilitated by Eurostars.
Krishen advised the entrepreneurs present to first focus on identifying real market needs before justifying their innovations: "It's crucial to find international partners that truly add value," he emphasised.
As the day concluded with bilateral sessions between interested companies and an informal networking coffee, it became clear that Valdemoro is determined to establish itself as a nerve centre for innovation and business development in southern Madrid. With its ambitious plans and suitable infrastructure, the municipality is shaping up to be a strategic place where SMEs can thrive.
Any interested company can find more information on how to participate in future calls or establish contacts by visiting the official website of the Town Hall or going directly to the local business centre.
