The Department of Security and Environment of Móstoles has designed 23 free activities to promote environmental education among families during July. Registrations are open until full capacity is reached.
The Finca Liana Environmental Education Centre in Móstoles will be the venue for an ambitious programme that includes 23 environmental activities aimed at families, scheduled from 1 to 31 July. This effort seeks to engage young people in protecting the natural environment and promote sustainable practices from an early age. The activities will take place between 10:00 and 12:00 hours, and are completely free, making it easier for all interested parties to participate.
Among the proposals are initiatives such as ‘Mission litter with art’, where participants will learn about recycling while creating artistic works; ‘Scavenger hunt: the guardians of the forest’, which combines fun and learning about local flora and fauna; and ‘Live Cluedo: nature detectives’, an interactive activity that challenges children to solve mysteries related to the environment. Workshops such as ‘The sensory garden’ and ‘Escape room: let’s save the planet’ will also be offered, designed to stimulate creativity and teamwork.
These activities are aimed at children aged 6 years and older, who must be accompanied by at least one adult. The department has emphasized that the goal is not only to educate but also to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the environment through group dynamics and interactive games. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about recycling, observe urban birds, and identify animal tracks, which will enrich their knowledge of their surroundings.
Registrations must be made by sending an email to educacionambiental@mostoles.es, where a limit of two activities per family will be established to ensure an optimal experience. Those wishing to participate in more activities will be placed on a waiting list, reflecting the growing interest in this type of community initiative.
Such programmes are not new; a few years ago, other localities implemented similar projects with great success, managing to involve hundreds of families in sustainable practices. In comparison, Móstoles seeks not only to replicate that success but also to innovate with new proposals tailored to current needs.
