Crisis in Móstoles: Government Delegate Sparks Political Storm with Accusations Against Mayor

An Unexpected Confrontation

This Friday morning, the Local Security Board in Móstoles became the scene of an intense political conflict. Francisco Martín, the government delegate in Madrid, surprised everyone present by questioning the legitimacy of Mayor Manuel Bautista to preside over the meeting. During his speech, Martín argued that Bautista should have resigned due to a harassment complaint filed by a former councillor from the Popular Party. He claimed that the mayor had been involved in inappropriate behaviour for months. However, Bautista quickly responded, announcing his intention to file a lawsuit against the delegate for violating his honour and using the Board as a platform for personal attacks.

The number two of the Madrid PP, Alfonso Serrano, firmly responded to Martín's statements. In a video directed at the media, Serrano described the delegate's actions as "undignified" and "disrespectful," emphasising that they will not take lessons from someone they consider part of a corrupt government. The tension between both parties has intensified for some time, especially following Martín's previous comments on the PP's management during the pandemic.

Bautista expressed his discomfort over the incident and harshly criticised Martín for attempting to hijack a meeting intended to coordinate security measures for the upcoming local festivities. According to him, it is intolerable that someone who should guarantee public safety uses their position to politically attack their opponents.

As tensions rise, both Bautista and Serrano have made it clear that they will not remain silent in the face of what they consider unjustified attacks. The mayor's decision to take the matter to court indicates that this dispute could escalate even further in the coming days.
