The PSOE of Madrid has filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office regarding the acquisition of a penthouse in Chamberí intended as a temporary office for Isabel Díaz Ayuso. The operation, valued at over 6 million euros, raises suspicions of possible economic crimes.
The controversy surrounding the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, intensifies following the complaint filed by PSOE-M with the Prosecutor's Office for Economic Crimes. The socialist party has requested an investigation into the purchase of a luxury penthouse in Chamberí, acquired for over 6 million euros, which was to be used as a temporary office for Ayuso. The Secretary General of PSOE-M and Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, argued that this operation could imply criminal responsibilities for the members of the board of directors of Planifica Madrid. "It is absolutely incomprehensible that such a file has been justified by a public administration," López stated during a press conference held in Ferraz. The complaint seeks to clarify whether there was administrative prevarication and to recover the public funds used in this transaction. According to López, the goal is for "every last euro to return to the pockets of the people of Madrid." Since the scandal became known nine days ago, PSOE has demanded transparency from the regional government without receiving satisfactory responses. The accounts of the purchase have changed continuously; it was initially justified as necessary due to works at the regional government headquarters, but later it was claimed that Ayuso lacked competence. This situation has led PSOE to register multiple requests and questions in the regional Parliament without obtaining adequate clarifications. In her recent statements, Ayuso has indicated that she does not have an official residence like other regional leaders or ministers, which has raised further doubts about the intentions behind the purchase of the property. López believes that the contradictions reveal a serious lack and a deliberate attempt to conceal crucial information about this real estate transaction. Additionally, he has requested detailed documentation related to the acquisition process of the penthouse and the decisions made during its purchase. This episode recalls other historical cases where public officials faced similar accusations of misuse or mismanagement of public resources.
