Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid will move to iconic spaces in the city due to the arrival of Formula 1 at IFEMA. This change promises a more accessible and diverse experience for the public.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, one of the most anticipated events on the fashion calendar, will adapt to new locations in the Spanish capital following the occupation of IFEMA for the construction of the new urban Formula 1 circuit. Starting from 7 September, the catwalks and activities will take place in iconic venues such as the Palacio de Cristal and the Palacio de Cibeles, transforming the city into a large open-air runway. This change not only represents a logistical challenge but also offers a unique opportunity to bring fashion closer to the general public. The first part of the event, which will take place between 7 and 10 September, will be marked by initiatives such as OMODA Madrid es Moda, which will include catwalks and activities in historic venues.

Over ten days, more than 60 designers will present their collections in a decentralised format aimed at involving citizens. The inaugural show will take place in the central pond of the Sabatini gardens, in front of the Royal Palace, a setting that promises to be spectacular. The Association of Fashion Creators of Spain (ACME) leads this edition with the support of the City Council, which has allocated a total of 650,000 euros for its organisation.

From 14 to 19 September, the main runway will take shape in various academic and cultural spaces. The Communication and Arts campus of Nebrija University will be one of the key points where several shows will be held, thus connecting the academic world with the creative industry. This strategy aims not only to diversify the locations but also to foster a dialogue between students and industry professionals.

Various prominent brands will participate this year, including established names such as Pablo Erroz, Custo Barcelona, and special celebrations like the tenth anniversary of Palomo Spain. Additionally, there is great anticipation for the collaboration between Dolores Promesas and Duyos, as well as tributes to brands with decades in the market like Devota & Lomba.

Apart from the creative showcase, this event has a significant economic impact for Madrid. According to municipal estimates, its repercussions could reach nearly 100 million euros. This includes not only direct investments in grants for designers – which have been doubled to 1.3 million euros – but also the tourism promotion associated with the event.

As this new edition progresses, it becomes clear that although IFEMA has left its historical mark on this event for years, this shift towards greater urban inclusion may redefine how we perceive fashion in Madrid. With multiple venues open to the general public and a varied offering both culturally and commercially, the organisers hope to attract not only industry experts but also those interested in discovering the latest trends.

As we approach the start of the event next month, it is advisable to keep an eye on the specific dates and exact locations where each of the shows will take place. For those wishing to attend or simply enjoy the festive atmosphere surrounding these days dedicated to Madrid fashion: mark your calendars!
