A wave of citizen discontent
This Saturday, Madrid will become the epicentre of a demonstration called by Sociedad Civil Española, a platform that brings together over 150 civil associations. Under the slogan "¡Sánchez, dimisión ya!", the organisers aim to express the growing discontent among citizens regarding the management of the government president, Pedro Sánchez. The protest is scheduled to start at 10:30 in the plaza de Colón.
Participants will march from the plaza de Colón to the Arco de Moncloa, with a route expected to significantly affect mobility on several main arteries of the capital. The demonstration will conclude around 12:30, but traffic complications will begin much earlier, from the early hours of the day.
Authorities have warned of roadblocks and restrictions on various streets such as Génova, Sagasta, and Alberto Aguilera between 10:00 and 16:00. Problems are also anticipated in key areas like paseo de la Castellana, Cibeles, and Gran Vía. Citizens are advised to avoid using private vehicles during these hours and to opt for alternatives like public transport.
Sociedad Civil Española has indicated that this mobilization is a reflection of the "clamour" of the people in response to what they consider a worrying drift of the Government. Organisers have urged participants to bring banners and identifying symbols to make their discontent visible.
