A new chapter in political confrontation
On a day marked by political tension, the Minister of Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, was once again the protagonist on the RTVE programme La Hora de la 1. In his conversation with journalist Sylvia Intxaurrondo, López did not hold back in his criticisms of the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, questioning her popularity and the polls that supposedly grant her an absolute majority.
During the programme, sensitive topics were addressed such as the harassment suffered by Begoña Gómez, the wife of the Prime Minister. Intxaurrondo posed incisive questions about the role of the Popular Party (PP) in this context. López was clear in stating that the PP bears full responsibility for sheltering ultra groups that propagate hate. “It finances it through Autonomous Communities and Town Halls,” he stated, specifically pointing to Galicia and Madrid as examples where public money is allocated to “pseudo-media”.
López also harshly criticised the health policies implemented by Ayuso, accusing her of closing health centres while favouring private companies linked to her personal circle. “It is absolutely impossible for one and a half million Madrilenians to vote for Ayuso after knowing what she does,” he asserted firmly.
The minister did not stop there; he also denounced the lack of transparency of the regional government regarding institutional trips. In particular, he mentioned a recent ten-day trip to Mexico made by Ayuso, of which there is no information available on the Transparency Portal: “Zero on hotels, zero on planes, zero on companions.”
As elections approach, Óscar López's words resonate strongly in an increasingly polarised electoral climate. His intervention not only calls into question the current management of the PP in Madrid but also raises questions about how citizens perceive these actions. With such a tumultuous political landscape, it will be crucial to observe how both voters and political leaders respond to these accusations.
