Podemos Parla has raised its voice against what it considers preferential treatment in the awarding of festive booths to Más Madrid, following the recent resolution from the City Council that allows the municipal group to access these spaces during the Water Festival and the 2026 Patron Saint Festivities. The controversy revolves around whether the institutional office of the group can be considered as a social headquarters, thus meeting the requirements set by the council. The spokesperson for Podemos, Carla Escudero Valero, has expressed her concern over this interpretation, pointing out that it could set a dangerous precedent for future awards. According to the rules approved on April 15, only those parties with a physical headquarters in Parla can apply for a booth. However, after a draw held on May 8, possible non-compliance by Más Madrid was detected. The purple party submitted two documents on May 22, requesting documentation that proved their social headquarters in the municipality. Despite this, the City Council accepted an office within the council itself as the party's headquarters, which has sparked intense debate over the fairness in the application of the rules. Escudero emphasizes that this situation is not just an ideological dispute, but a fundamental issue regarding how the rules are applied to all political groups. "Today it is Más Madrid, tomorrow it could be any group," she warned. In light of this scenario, Podemos is considering sending all documentation and administrative resolutions to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, seeking to clarify whether there was arbitrariness or abuse of power in this administrative process. The complaint not only calls into question the transparency of the local government but also raises concerns about how public resources are managed and ensuring equality among political organizations.
