Ayuso spared no effort in presenting Feijóo with a comprehensive analysis of the achievements and challenges that characterise her administration. The president highlighted the difficulties Madrid has faced due to what she considers systematic attacks on its public services by the central Government. Among the critical issues discussed were regional financing, problems with transport infrastructure, and a concerning shortage of doctors affecting not only Madrid but all autonomous communities.
Ayuso also emphasised the existing shortcomings in migration policies and how these affect the economic and social development of Madrid. Water management and related energy difficulties were other critical points addressed during the meeting. According to sources from the Madrid Executive, these problems are hindering progress towards effective digitalisation within the region.
From Génova, the national headquarters of the Popular Party, it is anticipated that this type of meeting will be replicated with other regional leaders of the party. The objective is clear: to define political priorities to confront the Government of Pedro Sánchez. In the words of a PP spokesperson, these meetings are essential to “concretise and improve our project as an alternative” to the current Executive.
As crucial elections approach, strengthening dialogue between political leaders seems more important than ever. The meeting between Ayuso and Feijóo not only reflects an internal strategy within the Popular Party but also a coordinated response to national challenges.
