The former councillor of the Popular Party has confirmed her complaint for sexual harassment against Manuel Bautista. The complaint includes the party and several serious crimes, which could have significant political repercussions.
The former councillor of the Popular Party in Móstoles has reaffirmed her complaint for alleged sexual harassment against the mayor, Manuel Bautista. The statement took place this Monday before the judge of the Women's Violence Section of the Móstoles Court and lasted almost three hours. In her testimony, the complainant detailed the alleged sexual propositions she received from the mayor, as well as a subsequent process she describes as workplace harassment.
According to the former councillor's lawyer, Antonio Suárez-Valdés, his client outlined three occasions on which Bautista allegedly made inappropriate proposals to her. Initially, she thought there might have been a misunderstanding; however, on the subsequent occasions, she made it clear that she was not interested and requested that those advances cease. Following these incidents, the complainant claims to have faced a hostile work environment.
The lawyer also mentioned that the former councillor had attempted to communicate the events to the Popular Party without receiving an adequate response. He claims that she was not only ignored but also felt coerced by those who were supposed to address the situation. Her request to activate a protocol against sexual and workplace harassment was unsuccessful, and she was even directly threatened.
Among the proceedings requested by the prosecution is the testimony of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid. It is considered relevant as she was informed about the attempt to activate the aforementioned protocol.
On the other hand, Manuel Bautista has categorically rejected the accusations on multiple occasions. He has described these allegations as part of a “political witch hunt” and has requested respect for his presumption of innocence. The mayor maintains that it is all a result of political revenge related to internal conflicts arising after the municipal elections held in 2023.
This case could have significant repercussions for both Bautista and the Popular Party in Móstoles. The admission of this complaint has been challenged by the mayor's lawyers, who argue procedural violations and have requested the immediate dismissal of the case.
