A web of deceit in the heart of San Blas
The National Police have dismantled a fraudulent operation that has left over 130 clients without the promised aesthetic treatments. The manager of a clinic located in the Madrid district of San Blas was arrested after being accused of fraud, for selling vouchers for services that were never going to be performed.
Problems began when several affected individuals decided to file complaints in February, alerting about the irregular situation of the aesthetic centre. Although the clinic operated normally, offering everything from laser hair removal to advanced treatments, a day before the definitive closure, clients continued to purchase vouchers unaware that their money was destined for a scam.
On the day of closure, clients found a sign on the door that read “temporarily closed”, being this the only notification about the cessation of the business. Investigations revealed that each victim had lost between 70 and 1,300 euros, depending on the treatment purchased. This situation has generated significant distress among those affected, who feel betrayed by a company that seemed legitimate.
The swift police action was crucial in preventing the manager from escaping. Officers suspected she intended to leave Madrid to evade justice and set up devices for her capture. Finally, on February 24, she was arrested just as she was trying to leave with a suitcase.
In light of this scandal, authorities have urged other potential victims to file their complaints to fully clarify the extent of the fraud. The detainee faces charges of fraud and punishable insolvency, which could lead to severe legal consequences if found guilty.
This case highlights the need for greater regulation and oversight in the aesthetic sector, where many consumers place their trust and money without truly knowing the business practices behind them. Authorities recommend always verifying the reputation and legality of these establishments before making any financial transactions.
