A revealing analysis of concert audiences in Spain

The Community of Madrid has been identified as the region leading ticket sales for concerts, according to a recent report from the Live Music Observatory of Ticketmaster. This study, which covers data from the year 2025, reveals not only cultural consumption trends but also a significant shift in the demographic profile of the audience attending musical events.

Contrary to what many might think, the most active age group in ticket purchases is not the young. People aged 45 to 54 years have established themselves as the most loyal concert segment, even surpassing those aged 25 to 44 years, who also show a notable growth of 5% compared to the previous year. This change indicates a robust recovery of the sector after difficult years for live music.

Although adults dominate purchases, the report highlights a balanced distribution among different age groups. Both young people (aged 16 to 24 years) and older adults (aged 55 years) each represent 16% of the total buyers. This diversity not only reinforces market stability but also expands the options available for all audiences, from large festivals to more intimate concerts.

It is not surprising that Madrid accounts for approximately 22% of the national total in ticket sales. Other communities such as Andalucía and Comunidad Valenciana follow with significant figures (19% and 13%, respectively), but none reach the Spanish capital. These data come from an exhaustive analysis of over four million transactions and surveys of a thousand people.

Despite an impressive 86% of purchases being made by Spaniards, the international audience is beginning to make its presence felt with growth reaching 14%. Foreign attendees mainly come from countries like France, Germany, and the United States. Additionally, digital platforms are playing a crucial role; direct purchases from social media have increased exponentially, multiplying sevenfold.

As Madrid establishes itself as one of the main musical epicentres in Europe, artists like Bad Bunny, whose tour is scheduled for 2026, are leading sales alongside other well-known names like Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, and iconic festivals like Mad Cool. Urban music continues to gain ground while diverse genres continue to attract varied audiences.
