A relief for public transport users
The Community of Madrid has announced that, starting from January 1, 2026, the discounts on public transport fares will be maintained, which is excellent news for the over six million users who rely on these services daily. This measure aims to facilitate mobility and ease the financial burden on citizens following the price increases recorded last July.
Among the main new features, it stands out that children under 7 years old, young people up to 14 years old, and those over 65 years old will be able to travel for free. Additionally, the Youth Pass will remain available at a symbolic price of 10 euros per month, while other passes will have significant discounts of 50% and 40%.
From next year, monthly passes for adults aged between 26 and 64 will maintain a 40% reduction. The specific fares by zones are as follows:
- ZONE A: 32.70 €
- ZONE B1: 38.20 €
- ZONE B2: 43.20 €
- ZONES B3, C1 and C2: 49.20 €
At the same time, the ten-trip ticket for Metro and EMT will remain at an accessible price of 7.30 euros.
All these discounts are financed by the Community of Madrid along with other administrations affiliated with the Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM) and the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility. This joint effort ensures that these measures will be in effect until December 31, 2026, providing stability to users during this period.
