A cultural summer at the Thyssen
The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum is preparing to welcome a new edition of Momentos Alhambra Tardes Thyssen, a series of free concerts that promises to blend music and art in a unique setting. This event, which will take place from 5 to 13 June 2026, has become an unmissable date for culture lovers in Madrid.
The museum's proposal is clear: to offer free access to all attendees until capacity is reached, eliminating the need for prior reservations. This initiative aims to democratise access to culture and make it available to everyone, allowing both locals and tourists to enjoy performances on the museum terraces.
Each concert is designed to interact with the works displayed in the Music for the Eyes exhibition, where iconic pieces such as The Virgin with Child among Angels, by the Master of the Madonna André, or Painting with Three Spots, No. 196, by Wassily Kandinsky, will serve as inspiration for the artists. This connection between different artistic disciplines will enrich the audience's experience.
The series will kick off with a performance by the renowned musician Víctor Herrero, who will present his musical proposal on 5 June. Herrero is known for his ability to blend folk tradition with sound experimentation, promising a vibrant start to this cultural event.
The following day, on 6 June, it will be the turn of audiovisual artist and DJ Perila, who will offer a performance linked to her work titled Mata Mua (Once Upon a Time). Her innovative approach is sure to attract a diverse audience.
Next, the series will continue on 12 June with the presentation of the Calcutá project, led by composer Teresa Castro. Her performance will be associated with the previously mentioned masterpiece by Kandinsky.
Closing this musical series, on 13 June, will be BELA, a project directed by Kike Bela that will explore themes related to musical groups from the 17th century. This finale promises to be a perfect capstone for a week full of art and creativity.
