A vibrant weekend in the Spanish capital
Next weekend, from 20th to 22nd March, Madrid will transform into the epicentre of leisure and culture, offering a packed agenda of activities that promise to delight locals and visitors alike. From gastronomic routes to international sports events, the city has something planned for every type of audience.
Gastronomy will be one of the main highlights. At the Mercado de Guindalera, tapas lovers can enjoy a Tapa Route, where for just 5 euros, they can sample 12 proposals accompanied by a drink. Meanwhile, in Majadahonda, the event Majadahonda Va de Pinchos will offer culinary creations in 14 restaurants with prices ranging from 2.50 to 3.50 euros.
Not only will tapas shine this weekend; The Champions Cheesecake will also take place, an event dedicated to cheesecake in Leganés, where for 6 euros, attendees can try various versions of the dessert.
Madrid is not only a feast for the palate; its cultural offerings are equally rich. The exhibition Madrid Colecciona, located at CentroCentro, will present nearly 100 contemporary works. Additionally, the Opera Gallery will host iconic pieces such as works by Andy Warhol and Takashi Murakami.
Those interested in science can also enjoy the event Madrid es Ciencia, which will feature more than 700 free interactive activities. This space aims to promote interest in science among all ages.
Not everything will be gastronomy and culture; motorsports will also take the spotlight. On Saturday, the Motorcycle Day at X-Madrid will take place, where renowned brands will showcase their latest innovations. But that's not all: Sunday will mark a milestone with the debut of the Madrid E-Prix of Formula E at the Jarama circuit. This event will bring together international drivers and offer a day full of adrenaline.
Taking advantage of the occasion, El Escorial will host the Chocolate Days, where 17 workshops will offer tastings and family workshops to enjoy the sweet treat.
Further filling the cultural agenda is the return of the music festival La Radio Encendida, which promises more than 11 uninterrupted hours of free concerts. Additionally, notable performances such as those by the Film Symphony Orchestra will take place in iconic venues like the National Auditorium.
There will also be major shows such as the musical The Chorus Boys starting Friday or the famous Cirque du Soleil with its show Ovo.
As this exciting weekend progresses, Madrid will once again host the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. With runway shows featuring the active participation of more than 40 emerging and established designers, this event promises to be a vibrant showcase for fashion enthusiasts.
