An Event That Marks a Milestone

Last weekend, Madrid experienced a historic day with the celebration of the first E-Prix at the iconic Jarama circuit. This event not only attracted 30,000 fans, but also solidified the Spanish capital as an international benchmark in the field of electric motorsport.

The event featured the prominent presence of King Felipe VI, who, alongside regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso, underscored the importance of such competitions in promoting sustainability and technological innovation in sports. The attendance of such significant figures highlights the institutional commitment towards a greener future.

Alberto Longo, director and co-founder of the Madrid E-Prix, did not hold back in his praise, describing the event as a “resounding success.” With an estimated global audience of five million viewers, Longo emphasized that the Madrid track is ideal for electric single-seaters, ensuring its place on the international calendar of Formula E.

On a competitive level, the race was an adrenaline-filled spectacle. Portuguese driver Antonio Félix Da Costa, racing for Jaguar, achieved an impressive victory after starting from third position. His meticulous strategy allowed him to overtake his rivals and claim first place, while drivers Ticktum and Wehrlein completed the podium after a tense final lap.

However, it was not just the winners who shone; Spanish driver Pepe Martí, although finishing in ninth place, proved his worth by scoring important points in a race where every decision regarding energy management was crucial.

Following the success achieved, it has been officially confirmed that the world championship will return to Madrid next year. This announcement raises expectations about how this event will evolve and what new surprises it will bring.
