Despite the enthusiasm generated by the news, Francisco Martín, the Government delegate in Madrid, has expressed his concerns about the conditions of the venue. In recent statements, he has requested the singer to consider moving her concerts to another location, arguing that the current space lacks the necessary conditions to host a mass event. Martín has pointed out that he has been calling for improvements in the infrastructure of the Iberdrola Music space for years to ensure safety and accessibility during large-scale events.
Martín's words have provoked an immediate response from the City Council and the Community of Madrid. Both the mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida and other officials have defended the suitability of the venue to host Shakira. Almeida has criticized the delegate for attempting to obstruct important events in the city and has reaffirmed his commitment to ensure that the concert goes ahead without issues.
Apart from the political differences, Francisco Martín has also emphasized how nearby municipalities like Getafe could be affected by such a massive event. He mentioned that these places are often overlooked when it comes to planning large events, which could generate additional tensions between local administrations.
