An Explosion of Music and Culture in the Spanish Capital
The city of Madrid is preparing to welcome one of the most influential artists in the world, Shakira, who has decided to expand her tour with a total of eleven concerts at the Iberdrola Music venue in Villaverde. The news has caused unparalleled excitement, as tickets for the first nine shows sold out in a matter of hours, with 450,000 tickets sold.
The new concerts will take place on 10 and 11 October, adding to the previously announced dates for September and early October. This phenomenon is not limited to music; Shakira has conceived her stay as a true artistic residency, which will include exhibitions, workshops, cinema, and gastronomy under the slogan Es Latina.
One of the most notable aspects of this proposal is the construction of the ‘Shakira Stadium’, a temporary venue specifically designed for her performances. The Government Delegation in Madrid, led by Francisco Martín, has expressed concern and urged Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida and President Isabel Díaz Ayuso to reconsider the authorization for these events.
Despite the criticism, both the City Council and the Community of Madrid have celebrated that Shakira has chosen their city as one of the main destinations on her world tour. Isabel Díaz Ayuso defended the decision, stating that it is part of the effort to promote Madrid as a vibrant cultural hub.
Starting this Friday at 14:00, fans will be able to purchase tickets for the new concerts through recognized platforms such as Live Nation, Ticketmaster, and El Corte Inglés. Demand is high, and these tickets are also expected to sell out quickly.
