An Unprecedented Celebration
On Saturday, May 9, the iconic Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid will open its doors to commemorate its centenary, offering citizens a day filled with art, music, and interactive activities. This event will transform the building into a vibrant space where creativity and citizen participation will take centre stage.
From 11:00 to 19:30, visitors will be able to enjoy a wide variety of activities. The day will begin with the Creative Fair on the Street, located on Marqués de Casa Riera street, designed to attract all audiences. At 11:30, the Sala La Pecera will host the concert Café cantante: España América, while the Ballroom will present the performance Alexia Oracular.
Throughout the day, artistic interventions such as Instructions for Climbing a Staircase will take place on the main staircase of the building. Additionally, the Cine Estudio will offer a continuous session dedicated to filmmaker Norman McLaren from 12:00 to 19:30.
As the day progresses, significant debates such as What Europe Are We Telling? will be held from 12:00 to 13:00 on the rooftop. This space will not only serve as a cultural meeting point but also as a platform to discuss relevant issues about the future of the European continent.
Starting at 15:00, the Ballroom will become a refuge for those wishing to participate in a collective nap with Las Lindas Pobres. This activity aims to foster a relaxed and communal atmosphere before resuming creative activities in the afternoon.
As night falls, the event will culminate in an exciting procession titled Procession. A Clean Sweep, which will begin at 20:30 and traverse various areas of the building. The grand finale is scheduled for 21:00, when The Circle. Total Stage will be presented, a visual and sound spectacle that will transform the main facade of the Círculo into an open stage for the public.
