A Musical Bridge Between Islands

This weekend, music lovers in Madrid will have the chance to enjoy a unique event that brings a piece of the Balearic spirit to the capital. The Pere Bujosa Trio, led by the talented double bassist and composer Pere Bujosa, will perform at the iconic Café Berlín this Sunday, May 3rd at 8:00 PM.

The performance is part of the trio's tour to present their latest album, titled Islas sonoras Vol. 1. This album is a tribute to composers who have maintained a special connection with the Balearic Islands, such as Chopin, Albéniz, and Jaume Mas Porcel. It blends elements of contemporary jazz with classical melodies and Mediterranean sounds, creating a unique auditory experience that invites reflection and enjoyment.

Bujosa has expressed his desire to reinterpret these masterpieces, not as mere covers, but as a creative process that respects the original essence while introducing new perspectives. During a recent interview on the Km0 program on esRadio, he highlighted how the trio's musicians bring their own imprint through improvisation, evoking the free spirit that characterised composers like Chopin and Liszt.

Through his music, Bujosa seeks to pay homage to 19th-century Mallorca, an ideal place to connect with the spiritual according to the romantic imagination. The compositions featured in Islas sonoras Vol. 1 not only celebrate this cultural heritage but also open a dialogue between the musical past and present.

As the trio's performance progresses, new arrangements and interpretations are expected to emerge, keeping the tradition alive while exploring new artistic directions. With this innovative approach, Bujosa hints at the possibility of a second installment that will continue to expand this sound universe inspired by the Balearic Islands.
