A day of alert in the capital
This Wednesday, Madrid will face a drastic change in its spring weather, with the arrival of heavy rain and storms affecting much of the metropolitan area. The State Meteorological Agency has issued an orange alert, warning of the adverse conditions expected from noon until night.
Forecasts indicate that the most critical period will concentrate between 12:00 and 22:00 hours. In areas under orange alert, such as the Henares Corridor, rainfall is anticipated to reach up to 30 millimeters in one hour. In other areas, such as the mountains and southern Madrid, although the rain will be less intense, they are not without risk, with accumulations potentially reaching 15 millimeters.
Not only the rain is a cause for concern. The storms will also bring strong gusts of wind and occasional hail episodes. These weather conditions could complicate traffic on the streets and generate local incidents.
In response to this situation, the City Council of Madrid has decided to activate the Flood Action Plan (PAINUNAM), placing it at level 0. This phase involves alert and constant monitoring to oversee the most vulnerable points against potential water accumulation.

Given the severity of the forecast, Emergencies 112 Community of Madrid has urged citizens to take extra precautions this Wednesday. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary travel during the critical hours of the day and to report any possible puddles or unexpected falls due to strong winds.
