Expectation and excitement in the Spanish capital

The city of Madrid is in a state of euphoria as the final of the Copa del Rey approaches, where Atlético de Madrid will face Real Sociedad this Saturday. Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida, a fervent Atlético supporter, has shared his feelings about the event, admitting he feels a slight "jitters" at what could be a historic day for his team.

During a recent press conference following the City Council's Governing Board, Almeida assured citizens that the event is being organised with the highest level of professionalism. "Madrid has a long history in managing major sporting events," he stated, highlighting that all aspects are being carefully coordinated by his administration.

The mayor also detailed the extensive security and emergency device that will be implemented during the match. Aware of the potential impact of the game on the streets, the authorities have designed a plan that includes between 150 and 200 Municipal Police officers. These forces will be present both at the Metropolitano Stadium and at key points such as the Fountain of Neptune.

In addition to the police deployment, Samur will be prepared with three basic and advanced units, ready to address any eventuality during the match. In the event of an Atlético victory, this operation will be significantly expanded the following day, with up to seven additional units deployed to ensure safety during the expected celebrations in Cánovas del Castillo.

Despite the natural nerves surrounding such an important event, Almeida maintains an optimistic attitude and has begun to "knock on wood" to attract good luck for his team. The passion for football is palpable in every corner of Madrid as fans eagerly await what could be a memorable day for the Atlético supporters.
