An unmissable event for running enthusiasts
On Sunday, April 26, Madrid will transform into a stage of energy and excitement with the celebration of the Zurich Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Madrid. This will be the 48th edition of a marathon that promises to attract approximately 47,000 runners from various parts of the world, establishing itself as one of the most anticipated sporting events on the calendar.
The organisation, led by AD MAPOMA, has confirmed that around 10,000 international participants will represent over 110 countries, highlighting the global and diverse nature of this competition. This event is not only an athletic challenge but also a cultural celebration that brings together people with different stories and backgrounds.
Participants will be able to choose from three categories: full marathon, half marathon, and a 10-kilometre race. This variety allows both experienced athletes and beginners to enjoy the event. The main start is scheduled for 8:45 AM, with waves organised according to personal bests, ensuring a steady and orderly flow throughout the day.
The route is a true homage to Madrid, starting at the iconic Plaza de Gregorio Marañón and passing by some of the most emblematic places such as the Santiago Bernabéu, Plaza de Castilla, and the Salamanca district. Runners will have the unique opportunity to cross in front of the Royal Palace and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere at locations like Puerta del Sol and Paseo del Prado, where the Reina Sofía Museum and the Prado Museum are located.
Not only will the runners experience an unforgettable day; the public will also play a crucial role in this festive occasion. Thousands of spectators are expected to take to the streets to cheer on the athletes, creating an electrifying atmosphere that completely transforms the usual rhythm of the city. With over 30 cheer points, including live music and interactive activities, each kilometre will be a shared celebration between runners and spectators.
As this eagerly awaited date approaches, Madrid is preparing to show its best face to the world, becoming a hub where sport, culture, and community come together in an unparalleled celebration.
