A challenging season start for Marc Márquez
The MotoGP season has begun with unexpected challenges for Spanish rider Marc Márquez. After a controversial penalty that cost him victory in Saturday's sprint race, the Catalan found himself in a promising position during Sunday’s race, fighting for a spot on the podium.
With just five laps to go, as Márquez was intensely competing for third place against Pedro Acosta and Raúl Fernández, he suffered a puncture in his rear tyre. This incident forced him to retire from the race, frustrating his hopes of earning valuable points in the championship.
In post-race comments, Márquez expressed his surprise at what happened. “It was very strange. I feel lucky not to have gone flying, as it exploded completely,” he remarked. Despite his disappointment at not being able to finish the race, the rider highlighted that he had started to feel better as the competition progressed.
The victory went to Italian Marco Bezzecchi, who dominated the event with authority. Pedro Acosta secured second place and became world championship leader, while Raúl Fernández completed the podium by finishing third. This result marks a significant shift in the championship standings and adds pressure on the competitors.
Despite this initial setback, Marc Márquez maintains a positive attitude. “I’m happy with how I’ve been feeling little by little; I’ve seen ‘little things’, but we scored zero points in this race,” he acknowledged. Aware of the physical challenges he has faced recently, he hopes to improve his performance in the upcoming races.
