A high-impact mission in the Big Apple
The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has concluded a strategic trip to New York, where she presented an ambitious proposal to attract foreign investment. This meeting takes place in a delicate context due to tensions between the United States and Spain over the situation in Iran, but it has not prevented Madrid from seeking to strengthen its position as an attractive destination for investors.
Díaz Ayuso met with investment funds and entrepreneurs at an event organised by Invest in Madrid, where she outlined 13 key projects covering sectors such as housing, healthcare, sports, and culture. The president emphasised that these projects are ready to receive foreign capital and are considered strategic for regional development.
One of the most notable projects is the Innovation District, which is being developed in collaboration with Real Madrid. This tech campus promises to generate over 23,000 jobs and contribute 1.2 billion to the regional GDP annually. The president highlighted the importance of this project as a driver of technological and economic development in the region.
Not only the technological sector was addressed; sports initiatives were also presented, such as the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix scheduled for September at Ifema and the renovation of the Rayo Vallecano stadium, which will require an estimated investment of 60 million euros. Additionally, Díaz Ayuso emphasised the cultural opportunities that Madrid offers, including musical events and festivals that attract thousands each year.
Another crucial point was the urban development of Madrid Nuevo Norte, considered one of the largest urban projects in Europe. This new neighbourhood will include thousands of homes and offices, as well as improved access to the metro. The Healthy City was also mentioned, an integral project that includes significant reforms in local hospitals.
Díaz Ayuso also addressed the demographic challenge through initiatives such as Villages with Life, aimed at revitalising rural areas in Madrid. The president highlighted her commitment to improving local infrastructure and essential services to reverse the demographic winter affecting many localities.
During her speech, Díaz Ayuso called on the Spanish government to establish stronger relationships with international allies such as the United States, France, and Italy. She assured that Madrid is ready to present its best version to maintain those vital links.
