A key investment for higher education
The Community of Madrid has taken a significant step towards modernising access to higher education by approving a direct grant of €300,000 for Complutense University. This funding will be used to manage the Single District, a system that centralises and simplifies the admission process to public universities in the region.
The Single District model allows students to submit a single application to access various institutions, including Complutense, Autónoma, Politécnica, Alcalá, Carlos III, and Rey Juan Carlos. This approach not only facilitates the process for applicants but also optimises administrative resources by avoiding multiple applications.
Complutense University will be responsible for the technical management of the system, which includes the allocation of places in both ordinary and extraordinary phases. This role is crucial to ensure that students are distributed according to their preferences and qualifications. During the 2025/26 academic year, more than 65,000 people participated in this process, highlighting the high demand from future university students.
This initiative, driven by the Ministry of Education, Science and Universities, aims not only to improve citizen services but also to promote university education in Madrid. The centralisation of the process aims to simplify procedures and reduce administrative burdens, making the path to higher education more accessible for both local and international students.
