Rivas Vaciamadrid has reaffirmed its commitment to the community by allocating nearly one million euros annually to its Socio-Educational and Community Development Intervention Programme, which benefits approximately 20,000 residents each year. This programme, driven by the City Council, aims to encourage citizen participation and social inclusion through various activities and community projects.
The Local Government Board, held last Friday, highlighted the multiple initiatives developed under this programme. The departments involved include Education, Childhood and Youth, Social Welfare, Citizen Participation, and Feminisms and Diversity. These areas collaborate to offer a wide range of activities aimed at different sectors of the population.
Among the most relevant actions are projects such as PAMCE (Support Programme for Minors in Educational Contexts), as well as events related to International Women's Day and LGTBIQ+ Pride. Additionally, citizen assemblies and specific activities for children and young people are organised, including children's and youth forums.
The programme also includes innovative sports proposals covering disciplines such as parkour, skateboarding, or climbing. These activities not only promote sports among young people but also foster values such as teamwork and personal growth.
With an investment of nearly one million euros each year, this programme becomes a fundamental pillar for improving the quality of life in Rivas Vaciamadrid. The City Council has emphasised that these initiatives are designed to meet the specific needs of local associations, social entities, and individuals in vulnerable situations.
Aside from the socio-educational programme, during the same session, the renewal of the agreement with Covibar was approved for the sixth consecutive year. This agreement is endowed with 56,000 euros, aimed at maintaining an active cultural programme in this local cooperative.
Furthermore, approval was given to continue with the educational programme ‘Strategies for social inclusion and social cohesion in Europe through education’, which is implemented in schools in the municipality. A new social educator will also be added to assist an additional group in the dining service at the Casa de Niños El Dragón during the upcoming school year.
The City Council's commitment to these programmes reflects a growing trend towards inclusive policies that seek to integrate all social sectors within the community fabric. With this significant investment, Rivas Vaciamadrid continues to position itself as a benchmark in socio-educational initiatives within the Spanish municipal sphere.
