An event celebrating Galician gastronomy

Spring in Alcobendas brings one of the most anticipated events for food lovers: the 29th Seafood Fair of Xuntanza. This year, the fairgrounds at the Parque de Andalucía will open its doors from 15 April to 3 May, offering free entry to all visitors who wish to enjoy a unique culinary experience.

Organised by the Xuntanza association of Galicians, in collaboration with Demar Degustación, this fair has established itself as a gastronomic reference in the region. The products offered come directly from El Grove, known for its exquisite seafood. Each day, chefs will prepare these fresh delicacies on-site, ensuring quality and authenticity.

Attendees can indulge in a wide variety of traditional dishes and seafood specialities. At eight stands, products such as octopus, spider crab, razor clams, and king crabs will be served, along with fried dishes and seafood rice. There will also be a variety of empanadas and artisanal cheeses that pair perfectly with Galician wines like albariños and ribeiros.

Not only will gastronomy take centre stage; the event will also feature a rich cultural programme. Performances by folk bands and traditional Galician music will enliven the atmosphere over several days. A highlight will be the 22nd Gathering of bagpipes and traditional dances, scheduled for 25 and 26 April.

The official opening is set for 16 April at 20:00 hours, where journalist María Cheda will kick off this gastronomic celebration with an inaugural speech that promises to be memorable.

Thinking of families, a children's area will be set up with bouncy castles so that the little ones can enjoy themselves while their parents explore the food stalls. The event hours will be flexible: meals will be served between 13:00 and 16:00 hours, while dinners will be available from 19:00 to 22:30 hours. During weekends, the hours will extend until midnight or even until one in the morning.
